Honey in Sicily is produced thanks to over 127,000 beehives and a fundamental role is also played by many female entrepreneurs, such as Santina Grisanti, a 39-year-old from Collesano (PA). Santina breeds the Sicilian black bee and produces her honey. The passion for bees was born with hiking. While the others photographed landscapes, she admired the one with wings. The breeding of queens and the production of honey have become a profession thanks to stubbornness and two companies that have responded to her curriculum vitae. To work with bees you need patience and you need professionalism and continuous updates. Today Santina Grisanti produces sulla, orange blossom, thistle and chestnut honey. That of sulla, together with that of citrus fruits, is conquering consumers.
